Rare Darco son for sale
Darco x Anforan xx x Wendekreis.
2009 5yr old KWPN gelding, 16 hands
Edarco is a true modern Darco model, well built with an uphill, long and correct neck, beautiful face and powerful movement. Like most Darco offspring he is extremely rideable, soft and light despite the muscular Darco type, yet incredibly powerful with amazing scope and step. However, his rideability is such that he will accommodate any level of rider.
Edarco was bred as a custom foal. This breeding copied the successful use of Darco in the last 10+ years for the Grand Prix ring. Darco crossed with TB blood in the 1st or 2nd generation of the mareline. This infusion of blood, speed and refinement is found in many successful Darco offspring like 2x Olympic gold medalist Sapphire. Based on pedigree and type, the VDL said this is a top jumper prospect who should go all the way.
Sire: Darco
World’s #1 sire of showjumping horses for many years. Darco offspring are careful with good character and very soft to ride despite their Belgian type. His offspring include ‘Sapphire’ (Mclain Ward) team gold winners Athens Olympics 2004, ;Otteronga' (Ludo Philippearts) 4th in Sydney Olympics and the other big time 5 star Grand Prix horses like ‘Winningmood’ (Luciana Diniz), ‘Amaretto d’Arco' (Shane Sweetnam), ‘Narcotic de Muze’ (Eric Lamaze), ‘Copin van de Broy’ (Marcus Enning), ‘Quarco de Kerambars’ (Rick Hemeryck) and Ludo Philippaerts ‘Parco’ and ‘King Darco’.
Dam: Annamarie 17 hands bred by Spruce Meadows (Calgary) 1988. Spruce Meadows’ very successful breeding program produced high level jumpers and hunters. Injured as a foal she did not compete. Anna was the half sister to the approved Hanoverian hunter sire Samual by Simply Spruce Meadows. As a broodmare, Anna produced the reserve champion 3yr old BWP mare Empress by Escudo I and another premium half sister Armanna by Argentinus.
Damsire Anforan xx 1975 was Spruce Meadows Hanoverian approved Thoroughbred stallion who stood for many years at their facility in Canada. Competed successfully in the Hunter Division, winning numerous Championships in Conformation and Working Hunter classes. Anforan also produced many talented jumper and hunter offspring including Abadan, ridden by Laura Balisky, who competed as a speed horse in Gottenburg, Sweden and was her reserve horse for the World Cup Finals in Paris in 1987. Anforan is the damsire of a number of popular approved stallions. Anforan descends primarily from British and Irish TBs who trace back to the successful foundation TBs used in European WB breeding.
Granddam sire: Annamarie's damsire is the legendary Wendekreis who was a very successful nick with Darco. Obelix Verdi, Upshot and Udo van 't Maailand have this cross. Edarco's pedigree has Lugano I on top and Lugano II bottom crossing back to the foundation jumper sire Der Lowe 2x. Wendekreis has had a very important influence on Hanoverian jumpers, producing many foundation stallions. He is found in top pedigrees across registries.
Lugano II is the full brother to the grandsire of Darco which gives 2 crosses through the stallion line and through the mareline to that very successful Lugano jumper line. Edarco decends from a family with bloodlines that produce exceptional scope and successful performance with 3 linebred crosses to Lugano I and II.
Edarco’s mareline also descends from the top producing foundation Hanoverian jumper sires Goldfisch II (Hanoverian G-line) and the D-line through Dwinger. Darco's sire Lugano Van der Roche descends from Dwinger giving Edarco a 3rd cross through mare and sire lines to one of the best producing jumper lines of all times.
Virtually every pro rider in almost every country has a Darco or mount with a Darco damsire and often several.
Darco has produced more grand prix showjumpers than any stallion in history. He was ranked #1 Showjumping Sire in the World and the #1 Showjumping sire by the USEF. Darco offspring compete in every equestrian venue; Olympics, World Cup, Nations Cup, Pan Am Games, Aachen, World Breeding Championships.
A few Darco fans include Olympians/WEG and Nations Cup competitors Rodrigo Pessoa, Eric Lamaze, Yann Candele, Bjorn Nagel, Jos Lansink, Harry Smolders, John Whitaker, Shane Sweetnam, Ludo Philipaerts, Vincent Vroom, Peter Wylde, Toni Hassman, Otto Becker, Daniel Deusser, Edwina Alexander Tops.
